LAG “Terre del Primitivo” is a Local Action Group based in Manduria (TA), Apulia Region, Italy. It is a public-private limited liability consortium. It includes 11 municipalities (Manduria, Avetrana, Lizzano, Maruggio, Torricella, Sava, S.Marzano di S. Giuseppe, Fragagnano, Erchie, Oria, Torre Santa Susanna, belonging to the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi) and 62 private members (professional organisations, trade associations, private parties).

The LAG “Terre del Primitivo” has been created thanks to the Leader + Puglia 2000-2006 programme. Its aim is to spread information about the benefits and opportunities offered by the communitarian initiative “Leader +” to local citizens and implement the Local Development Plan. Our LDP strategy aims at developing a complex, diversified and integrated system of actions in order to build and spread a clear and recognizable identity of the area where the “Primitivo Wine” is produced. Innovation, aggregation, access to the market, development and promotion of eno-gastronomic tourism are the tools which will enable us to carry out our task.

The adopted strategy allows us to achieve the LDP objective which consists in strengthening the “Terre del Primitivo” local economic system and foster an integrated sustainable development based on the improvement of competitiveness and quality of typical local products and rural tourism.
